High-Efficiency Polarizer Reflectarray Antennas for Data Transmission Links from a CubeSat

This paper presents two designs of high-efficiency polarizer reflectarray antennas able to generate a collimated beam in dual-circular polarization using linearly polarized feed, with application high-gain for data transmission links from Cubesat. First, an 18 cm × operating the 17.2–22.7 GHz band has been designed, fabricated, and tested. The measurements prototype show aperture efficiency 52.7% right-handed circular (RHCP) 57.3% left-handed (LHCP), both values higher than those previously reported related works. Then, dual-band is presented first time, which operates dual-CP frequency bands 20 30 GHz. proposed antenna technology enables reduction complexity cost feed chain operate dual-CP, as linear-to-circular no longer required. property, combined lightweight, flat profile low fabrication printed reflectarrays, makes good candidates Cubesat applications.
